Mission: Our mission is simple: Deliver honest financial products that improve lives.
1/18/18 was a very meaningful day at Affirm, Inc. We've followed through with our dedication to transparency and have published our demographic metrics for the very first time. This is a huge milestone for us, and only the beginning of our continuing journey toward building a more inclusive community. Thank you to everyone involved in making this happen!
We're off to a strong start in 2018: 300 employees, more than 1 million loans issued, and a new office in New York! To support these exciting developments, we're looking to grow out our Talent Team. Check out our open roles below.
Affirm is dedicated to changing the way consumer finance works. We build honest financial products that help people prosper.
Our core product allows people to buy now and pay over time. Because of our technology, we can offer financing to more customers than traditional credit, and because of our values, we never charge hidden fees. Consumer finance is still very broken, but we’re only just getting started.
We consider our impact on people’s lives before we think about our own interests.
We are completely transparent and honest—with our customers and with each other.
We take full accountability for our actions, never shirking responsibility or passing the buck.
We make complex things simple and clear.
We never stop innovating, taking smart risks, and raising the bar.
Make an impact in the world. Work with people who bring out the best in you.
Affirmers believe people come first. We’re passionate about building something that makes a positive change in our customers’ lives.
Success means all hands are on deck—from engineering to sales and operations. We collaborate companywide and challenge each other to bring thoughtful ideas to every project. Even with our growth, Affirm still feels like a tightly-knit team where every perspective counts.
Affirm offer generous coverage for health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurances for you and your dependents.

I have been working at Affirm full-time (Less than a year)
Growth and the opportunities that creates are the biggest pro of working at Affirm. Since I have joined in the last few months, huge wins have been made on the business development and sales sides that suggest this company has what it takes to reach escape velocity. As a software engineer, this makes it easy to understand what we need to build and how my contributions will move the business forward.
As important as partnerships are at this company, Affirm remains engineering focused, likely because of our founder. The benefits package, which feels generous for a startup of this size and profitability, caters toward building knowledge and excellence in all areas of life.
Recruiting is top notch, and I was surprised how well the company hires versus both the big box tech companies and other hot startups. Having only worked at companies with similar levels of talent, I was happy to not have to compromise here.
As with most fast moving startups, there is some technical debt. Also, the fast pace of the business means there is less time than I would like to explore new technologies for use at the company and for personal growth.
Additionally, while many startups win by making simplifying assumptions and avoiding regulation, we are a fintech company, and thus make it our competitive edge to deal with all the complexity that finance and regulation create. At times the nuance created by this can be frustrating.
Advice to Management
Keep pushing. Greatness remains in sight! Also, I appreciate how we have a no nonsense culture compared to a bunch of other unicorns that have been in the press lately.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Affirm (San Francisco, CA) in August 2017.
Best experience I've ever had with an interview process! The recruiter I worked with was friendly, efficient, and ensured that I was kept in the loop throughout the entire process. Everyone I spoke with and/or met was on-time, thoughtful, and engaged.
I applied online and the recruiter reached out the next day to schedule the first phone call. The process involved: 1) phone call with the hiring manager, 2) take-home analytics exercise, and 3) on-site interviews.
The first phone call was behavioral and a business case. From what I gathered, the main objective of this conversation was to assess interest in Affirm, relevant skill sets/experiences, fit, and structured thinking when breaking down problems.
The analytics exercise involved analyses of a few data sets (in Python, R, and/or SQL of my choosing) and a short presentation of findings. This was not just an assessment of technical ability, but equally as important, a glimpse into the types of data the team works with and the problems they tackle. The exercise is a great opportunity for candidates to ensure that the role/work is interesting to them.
Lastly, on-site conversations were a mix of behavioral, business cases, and idea generation/brainstorming. Behavioral parts were focused on past projects/experiences and why I was interested in Affirm. The business cases and brainstorming parts were focused on real issues/questions that the team & company tackles everyday, e.g. how do we improve the product, improve funnel performance, acquire new customers, etc.
The conversations were very intellectually stimulating, and everyone's passion for the mission and company was evident. Overall I had an extremely positive experience with the process!
