I have been working at Agrium full-time (More than 3 years)

    - Culture at head office is very respectful, family feeling, and mistakes are viewed as "learnings" - Pay and benefits are decent and comparable - Initiatives to get employees involved are all around if you want to take advantage of them - Management is generally respectful and not high on their horse - Location of head office is perfect for those not wanting to work down town

    - Recent lay off's and "operational excellence" has really cut back on the number of employees but the work load hasn't decreased. Many feel they are just too busy and overloaded with work. - Employee "perks" that we all looked forward to in past years have been cut back significantly - Culture has shifted with the change in CEO, some changes are for the better but communication to employees was lacking/too late after the fact, buy-in was hard - Operational Excellence was supposed to reduce the number of middle managers and top heavy structure we had. It has wiped out a lot of lower level positons (the positions that DO the work) and created even more management positions that don't seem to be value-add

    Advice to Management

    - Better communication is required if you want more buy-in from employees - Look at the org structure and how top heavy it is...are these management positions really value-add? How is the "work" supposed to get done when so many lower level positons are being phased out/cut?

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Agrium.

Interviewed in person with the credit manager and HR. Then did a phone interview with the controller. Spoke for approximately an hour. Very easy to communicate with and made process painless. Great people to talk to.
