I have been working at Air National Guard full-time (More than 10 years)
One of the best decisions I made was to Palace Chase from Active Duty into the Air National Guard almost 22 years ago. The experience I have received is invaluable and would never have happened without the excellent leadership I have been privileged to serve under.
The downsides of working in the ANG are the same that you would experience most anywhere. Periods of poor leadership, inexperienced co-workers unwilling to step up and learn, etc. There are also the long periods of time away from family but that is part of the job as a Guardsman and a United States military member.
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Air National Guard.
Talked to an ang recruiter. They told me job options that I qualified for and what each job does. You have to take a placement exam to get tour scores.
