Airbus Group is a global leader in aerospace, defence and related services with more than 138,600 employees worldwide.
Airbus Group is made up of three divisions, all leaders in their fields:
Combining European heritage with global outreach, the diversity of our talent and technology drives innovation, integration and internationalisation.
Airbus Group is a global pioneer in aeronautics, space and defence-related services. Regardless of which Division of Airbus Group you work in, you’ll be part of our unique culture.
Airbus Group is a high-performance environment. But performance isn’t just about what you achieve: it’s also about how you achieve it.
All Airbus Group employees live by a set of guiding principles that enable everyone to share common values and behaviours. But 'shared' does not mean that everyone should be exactly the same.
Instead, we encourage individuality. We embrace diversity. We want people to bring their own style and contribute to the richness of our organisation.
Drawn from more than 130 different nationalities, Airbus Group employees have drive, dynamism and creativity, plus an ability to transcend geographical and professional boundaries to work together on cutting-edge projects.
At Airbus Group, we take pride in the diversity of our employees, valuing the special experience and expertise that people from different backgrounds bring to our business. We thrive on the mix of ideas, backgrounds and knowledge created by such a combination of influences. At the same time, we encourage employees to develop their individual talents and experiences and to be proud of their roots.
The ability to develop groundbreaking technologies is one of our key assets, and our people make it happen.
To maintain our position as a global leader, Airbus Group is committed to cultivating a culture of innovation. We spend over €3 billion annually on research and development. We hold approximately 37,000 patents worldwide. Over 1,000 scientists and researchers, including doctorates and interns, work at our facilities in France, Germany, UK, Spain, USA, Canada, Singapore, India and China.
Innovation takes many forms at Airbus Group, from early-stage research to product development, from cyber-security to enhancing existing platforms, manufacturing processes and quality.
The quality of our innovation is recognised around the world. In 2013, Thomson Reuters listed the Group among its Top 100 Global Innovators, while Booz & Co placed us in the top 50.
We are always looking for people who are capable of improving the solutions we develop and inventing new solutions to meet the complex challenges of living in a more secure and sustainable world.
The diversity of our talent drives innovation at Airbus Group, while inclusion is how we make sure everyone is a full-fledged member of team.
Airbus Group is only the success it is today because we have embraced diversity and worked together across cultures to develop our innovative products. Our workforce already spans four generations with more than 130 nationalities and over 20 languages spoken. Historically our headquarters and main manufacturing sites are based in Europe, however we also operate on a global scale. We strive to mirror the diversity of our customers and suppliers and endeavour that 20 percent of our workforce will come from outside Europe by 2020. Maintaining an inclusive working environment is key to the success and sustainability of our company.
Group wide, our diversity and inclusion networks manage topics such as work life balance, career development, integration of disabled employees and furthering gender balance. We also work proactively alongside a number of organisations to support our initiatives and best practice in order to create an inclusive working environment.
We are particularly committed to advancing women in the workplace and developing female talent. We are determined to increase the number of women we recruit to 25% and the number in senior management positions to 20% by 2020.
On March 9th, Airbus Group launched Balance for Business, the Group’s brand new cross-divisional, cross-departmental and transnational network to foster gender balance. Involving, in total over 2,000 employees, the network aims to spur the recognition and development of women across the Group by attracting, developing and retaining skilled women.
Abbie Hutty is an award-winning engineer and advocate for the industry in the UK. “When I was a teenager, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life," she says. "Being an engineer didn’t even occur to me. Then I saw the Airbus Mars Express mission on the news and thought: if engineers make things that go into space, that sounds like a pretty cool thing to do."
Today, Abbie is developing the structure of the ExoMars Rover Vehicle at the Airbus Defence and Space site in Stevenage, UK. This forms part of a joint European Space Agency-Roscosmos mission, with touchdown of the rover on the Red Planet scheduled for January 2019. “I’m working on a Mars mission myself – the very thing that inspired me to become an engineer.”

Company needs to provide better management training, upward feedback surveys, mentoring programme
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Airbus Group (Ashburn, VA) in September 2015.
Applied for the position through their website. Was contacted via phone by H.R. to arrange travel to their VA location. All travel expenses paid by Airbus, arrived at their location and was interviewed by the hiring manager, H.R. rep, and another manager within a different division of the group. Interview lasted one hour only.
