I have been working at Allego full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Allego is going through an exciting period of growth and they are doing all the right things to make sure it continues. This includes investing in their employees, hiring the right people, setting ambitious, but attainable goals, and working hard to maintain the excellent company culture that has been built up over the years.

There are a number of pros to working at Allego, but the top for me include the location, company size, product, work from home/vacation policy, and the people (not necessarily in that particular order).

Location: I love the suburbs. Parking is FREE the commute is easy. Obviously, if you live in Boston, you’ll have to do the math, but it would be a reverse commute. If you’ve ever paid $450/month for a garage spot in Boston, you can relate. There is also a decent café with inexpensive breakfast and lunches ($5.75 – $7.99).

Size: Sub 150 employees means the company is big enough where you’re not doing everything, but small enough to be devoid of the tape cutting and other bloated processes that slow you down.

Product: Allego’s product is used by hundreds of thousands of sales reps and for good reason, there is nothing quite like it in the market. The development teams know their stuff and it shows. From a business perspective, SaaS based recurring revenue model… enough said.

Benefits: It varies by department, but Allego very much embraces the trend of being able to work from home. While I generally like to come into the office – and feel you can accomplish more by having face time with your team - you need a day at home every week or so to stay sane. Vacation is unlimited and the company has a slogan of “Unlimited Vacation for Real” to encourage employees to use it.

People: It’s been said many times within the Glassdoor reviews (I know this because I read all of them prior to joining) that the people at Allego are genuine, want you to succeed, and generally shoot from the hip. There isn’t a lot of time for BS here and that ethos is baked in at the foundational level.

    Cons

This isn’t necessarily a con, but while Allego is a “startup,” it’s not like a stereotypical VC funded startup that hemorrhages cash on a daily basis. Translated, some of the more elaborate perks are not found here. Is that a deal breaker? No way.

Desks are awesome (power, stand-up) but the chairs aren't great.

    Advice to Management

    Keep it up.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Allego (Needham, MA) in January 2018.

    Interview

I was contacted by a lovely woman, Amy, who was recruiting for a sales position at Allego. Although I was not in the market for a new role, the conversation with her was so easy going and pressure free, that I decided to take a next step phone conversation with the Chief revenue office, George Donovan. George is a very honest and personable individual. He really made the discussion feel like just that...a discussion, not an interview. A week later I was checking out their fantastic office in Needham, meeting with various team members in person. I was really impressed with everyone I met...all top talent who want to be a part of a successful team at Allego. I finished the process with one addition phone interview with one individual who wasn’t around on the day I was in the office. Overall the experience was very positive. Everyone was upfront, pleasant and communicated very well during the process. I have nothing but good things to say!
