I worked at Alliance Credit Union full-time (More than 8 years)
Good financial decisions; credit union is healthy. Former CEO cared deeply about employees and provided opportunities for growth. Employees were allowed to share ideas and make mistakes. Culture was inclusive and accepting. Salaries were ok for Bay Area.
Weak accountability and little leadership development meant some departments/branches suffered. Budgets were always tight and not necessarily spent on the right things. Needs younger board members with leadership experience. New CEO is harsh and rigid; many leaders have left since he came aboard as CFO. Culture will suffer.
Advice to Management
People are one asset the organization can't afford to lose. A lot of long-term knowledge will walk out if 1950s style rules are implemented. There's nothing wrong with work being fun and liking the people there.
I applied online. I interviewed at Alliance Credit Union (San Jose, CA).
Submitted by resume online. I got a call next day from HR dept. Reviewing my resume then ask days available to work and what is my hourly wage to request. She set up an interview with branch mgr three days later.
