I worked at Alpha Broadcasting full-time
Willing to provide the tools needed to do your job at a high level; Probably the best group to work for in today's Radio environment
Low compensation; Little to no communication on the corporate level
Advice to Management
If you want your employees to implement your vision for the company, it would be beneficial to share that vision with them. Also, Radio requires a very specific combination of talent and skill... thus, your employees should be paid accordingly. Despite the old cliche that "anybody can do your job", there aren't that many people who can do this job well. If you pay them like foodservice employees, they will eventually develop the lackadaisical attitude demonstrated by many foodservice employees... which only hurts your business.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Alpha Broadcasting (Portland, OR) in December 2011.
The hiring and interview process at Alpha usually consists of several one on one interviews followed by a group panel. Timeliness of interviews and the whole process is actually quite quick. From the resume and announcements to the decision is usually 2-3 weeks. They work at getting people in the door and if they are a good fit, hiring them and getting them to work.
There wasn't one.
