I worked at Altitude Inc. full-time
- Great people (strategists, designers, engineers, operations). Good diversity in backgrounds and interests. It's an inspiring place to work, with an interdisciplinary mix of talent.
- Great culture. Previous (negative) reviews described an Altitude that no longer really exists. People are generally empowered - they're allowed to be honest and authentic in their interactions.
- Slightly lesser-known brand. Altitude "punches above its weight", but the weaker name recognition makes marketing and program development more challenging.
- Some growing pains. Altitude was historically a physical product development firm, but has been building out its digital/service design capabilities recently. This evolution will require some time, investment and adjustment.
Advice to Management
Keep building the brand. Altitude does excellent work. But it's critical to increase the firm's visibility and reputation within the design and innovation consulting space (and beyond).
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Altitude Inc. (Somerville, MA).
Refreshing and very positive interview. I submitted my resume, and within a few days the CEO emailed me to invite me over for a face-to-face first interview...unheard of in today's trend of relentless phone screens. We spoke for about an hour, and had a very easy-going conversation. I was invited back to meet several members of his team, in an extended interview, which was again very conversational and positive. In the end they decided to go with someone else, but the CEO had the courtesy to communicate this directly to me, and also share feedback on why they made a different choice.
