Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

The team here is really friendly. There are a lot of company events that help to break out of your department and usual working teams to get to know everyone. If you are looking for a place to grow,

It is a flat organization. If you are joining the team looking to "climb the ladder" with a new title every year this might not be the right fit for you.

Advice to Management

Keep listening to the team's feedback and leading in the direction you want the company to grow.

The interview process was extensive. There was a phone interview, am in person interview with two Vice Presidents, as well as another in person interview with the president and CEO. While this might seem tedious to some, I appreciated it. They do business in a particular and efficient fashion. I learned a lot about the company in these interviews which I appreciated. Some might feel that it is an "old" way of conducting interviews, however it is more personal and constructive than simply applying online, talking on the phone, and having a short in person interview.
