I have been working at American Licorice full-time for more than a year

Lots of training and growth opportunities, better pay than you’ll find elsewhere in the region for office jobs, clearly actively trying to make positive changes, working hard to better the community,

With lots of change or progress comes making hard decisions, and those decisions have negatively effected some good people. Departmental silos still exist, but you can see they’re trying different

Advice to Management

Top management could benefit from spending time with people at the bottom in each department to truly understand what they do. Lack of understanding on both sides can build frustration or resentment.

    Senior Business Manager Interview

    Anonymous Employee in United States
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at American Licorice (United States) in Nov 2019

Initial phone screen and then had an interview with the hiring manager. The phone screener took days to return phone calls and just seemed to be going through the motions. Hiring Manager indicated I might not have the right niche of experience they were looking for. Hiring manager was from Philadelphia was all business and not at all personable on the phone. I perceived a lack of soft skills on her part. I was surprised to hear back that they wanted to conduct a group phone interview. I spent 90 minutes a few days later on the phone being grilled about my experience. After the group interview I was "ghosted", no further contact (good or bad).... In retrospect I believe that I was used as a "comparison candidate" to be interviewed versus their favored candidate. In any event this led to a poor candidate experience. If you apply know that you will go through a dysfunctional process and understand if you are not chosen you will probably be "ghosted"....This is not a top tier candidate experience. Good Luck!
