Mission: As the voice of pharmacy, the American Pharmacists Association leads the profession and equips members for their role as the medication expert in team-based, patient-centered care.
APhA was the first-established national professional society of pharmacists, having been founded in 1852 as the American Pharmaceutical Association. It remains the largest association of pharmacists in the United States, boasting more than 60,000 practicing pharmacists, pharmaceutical scientists, student pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and others interested in advancing the profession.
The American Pharmacists Association provides information, education and advocacy to empower its members to improve medication use and advance patient care.
Whether you’re starting to consider career options, looking to grow in your current position, or considering a career transition, we can help you sort through the options, connect with employers, and provide resources and tools to help you succeed. We’re also here to help employers, residency programs, state associations, and schools of pharmacy with program development and candidate recruitment. Let us guide the process so you can focus on the results.
APhA is the leading advocate for the pharmacy profession and a driving force in creating opportunities for pharmacists to play a key role in integrated patient care, and ensuring the profession is recognized as essential in optimal medication use. We strive to make your job as a pharmacist easier, by providing the latest industry news, continuing education and professional development opportunities, practice tools, and more, so that you can focus on caring for your patients.
I have been working at American Pharmacists Association full-time
One of the things I enjoy most about working at APhA is the culture. I'm surrounded by many hard-working staff members who are genuinely passionate about fulfilling our company's vision and making strides in healthcare. I'm able to enjoy a very flexible work policy, I feel valued, and I'm very fulfilled in my day-to-day worklife, which is extremely important. Overall, I can honestly say I feel empowered in my job and I really love working for this company.
Like any association, APhA is always doing it's very best to accomplish a lot with a little. Although there are times where it seems like there is a lot of work to be done, the upper management at APhA are really great about setting reasonable expectations. If you're skilled at your job and transparent with your workload and capacity, you will be happy in your job here.
Advice to Management
Continue to help foster collaboration between the different departments... I've already seen great strides in this area!
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at American Pharmacists Association (Washington, DC) in October 2017.
Everyone involved in the hiring process was very professional and answered all the question I had about the position and the organization. Ultimately, I believe I was offered the position because it was mutually a great fit.
