I worked at American Rivers as an intern (Less than a year)
Great culture and work atmosphere. Everyone is really passionate about what they do and they offer flexibility in the office setting.
It can be a challenge to stay in touch through video conferencing and you have to be prepared for a good deal of independence (which is good or bad depending on your personality).
Advice to Management
Keep treating your employees like you already are. The sabbatical opportunity for longer term employees is something that would make me leave private industry to come back.
I applied online. I interviewed at American Rivers in April 2017.
Sent letter and resume in, hiring manager responded quickly, scheduled interview, then rescheduled two more times. After she sandbagged the date and I sent her an email she sent me a snotty note and said I was no longer a candidate. This appears to be an organization that likes to represent itself a certain way, but in actuality, doesn't practice what it preaches. Elitist attitude.
