I worked at Andrews Kurth full-time (More than 5 years)
Compared to most other big law firms, you will work with positive, friendly, and supportive people. The litigation section is not as much of a sweat shop atmosphere as most of the firms of my peers.
You still have the typical pressure of a large law firm to bill a ton of hours and be perfect in your work.
Advice to Management
There are a lot of young attorneys these days that need a big firm salary to pay their loans, but who have no desire to make partner. Have a non-partner track attorney position with less billable hour requirements and a reasonable lower salary.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took a week. I interviewed at Andrews Kurth.
I knew the supervisor --person hiring me from previous law firm. Great interview. She knew my skills already. Just took personality test. Met with the office manager and other people that I would be working with in the word processing department.
Easy. Just set up hours and salary.
