Mission: Building the world's most extraordinary rental experience.

How Much Would Amazon HQ2 Drive Up Rents?
Our mission is simple, we want renters to be able to find a great home and we want that process to be simple and delightful. In one word, we want their experience and apartment search to be extraordinary.
The extraordinary experience we are building is loved by renters and landlords. In fact, four million Renters used Apartment List last month, 75% of them on mobile. Each month more and more renters are signing their lease thanks to Apartment List.
We recently just raised $30M in our series B to accelerate our growth - think you’re up to the challenge? Check out the team and learn more about us.
Health & Wellness
Healthy employees = happy employees, so we do all we can to keep you in shape! Take advantage of the our monthly gym membership stipend. We offer full (100%!) coverage on our health, vision, and dental benefits for you AND your family. We make sure you can take a break with programs like our flexible time off and our competitive parental leave, so you can enjoy your life outside the office.
Get Out of the Office
We love spending time together outside of work too. We celebrate everything from Halloween to company milestones, and we do it in style. We also go beyond the parties - join our monthly company-wide events like community service, scavenger hunts, and paint night, our yearly Tahoe ski trip, or our monthly department outings to really get to know your team better.
There’s no such thing as a free lunch – except at Apartment List! Grab a plate and join your teammates for a meal of gourmet goodness, brought to us by Chewse. We also have fresh fruit courtesy of Fruit Guys, and a variety of healthy (and yummy) snacks.
On the last Friday of every month, we randomly assign everyone to parties of four or five and eat out of the office, on Apartment List. It’s a great opportunity to learn more about what other teams are working on and sample the cuisine of delicious SoMa restaurants.
At Apartment List, we believe you’re never too old to stop learning. We offer opportunities to learn new skills through in-house training, conferences, hackathons, and trying your hand at a new project. We know that learning goes beyond "work skills" too, and have weekly TED-style talks by our team members about their passions so we learn about everything from health to space to fencing to adoption.
Location, Location, Location
Apartment List headquarters are located in the heart of SoMa, minutes from CalTrain, BART and Market Street. AT&T Park is just a few blocks away, making group trips to Giants games as easy as winning three world championships in five years.
Not everyone can (or wants to) live within walking distance of the office, so take advantage of our monthly transportation stipend as well as pre-tax account for commute. Use it to cover refills on your Clipper card, a parking spot, bike costs or even cab fare… we won’t judge
We believe in transparency throughout Apartment List, so every Friday at lunch (except for Family Fridays! See above) we host a company all hands named “Q&Meals” where we go through the latest company updates and get all your questions answered.
In addition to general tech rockstars, we embody these core values.
We call them Huddle:
John Kobs, CEO
Chris Erickson, COO
Marissa Dulaney, VP Product & User Experience
Matt Nemenman, CTO

Advice to Management
Continue to seek feedback and Apartment List will continue to be the amazing company that it is!
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Apartment List (San Francisco, CA) in August 2011.
The interview process was thorough but not over-the-top difficult or exhaustive. Also, it gave me enough chance to meet a lot of different employees and have all my questions answered.
