Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Appcast (Canada) in Aug 2022

Very pleasant and fast process, the recruiter reached out within 24 hours of submitting my application to set up an initial call within few days. The 1st call was a phone interview where the recruiter asked general questions about what I was looking for, my experience, explained what this role was about and spoke a little about the company and their values. The recruiter was also very transparent when asking the compensation question about my expectations and were it was positioned within their bracket. Even though the number I gave was a bit higher for them, I expressed that this wasn’t necessarily a deal breaker to me and that I could be slightly flexible.

Then I met with a sales director through video call who was very to the point, yet super nice through the entire conversation. Felt there was a genuine interest to get to know me as a professional, see if there could be a fit with the company and their management style. Asked a lot of questions about my sales approach and mindset with clients. Felt the questions were very tailored to the position, and also looking deeper the obvious sales clichés. Throughout the interview, I felt this is serious organization full of talented sales people.

Third round, it was a video call with a sales VP, again very to the point, but pleasant to discuss with. Questions were very focused to the role, and sales approach, trying to dig beyond the surface and understand my sales personality. I felt the desire to get to know me as a professional, to learn about my style, expectations and see if there could be a fit with what there we’re looking for.

Overall, it was an easy and seamless process, no BS and efficient. I really felt it was more of a conversation for me to also learn about them rather than just them assessing me. The organization was very transparent on what to expect at each step, and felt supported by the recruiter from beginning to end.

The organization left strong impression, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to my network.

What is your approach to get in front of net new customer?
