I applied online. The process took 4+ months. I interviewed at Appleton Marine (Appleton, WI) in April 2012.
I received an e-mail asking to set up a time for a phone interview. I arranged for time off work to make the phone interview but it never happened at the scheduled time; it occurred two hours late. The interviewer said that he forgot and was at home and with out my resume. He tried to conduct the interview but it didn't really turn out like one. It was more of a question and answer type interview about the position and company. The interviewer said I needed to take two tests and that he would arrange to take a job in the area so that we could met and I could take the tests. The interviewer said he would give me a week to think it over and he would call me back. He never called back but i received an e-mail about three weeks later asking if i were still interested in the position. I obviously declined the offer.
Reasons for Declining
This job was for a traveling technical representative in the hydraulics field. Some of this required travel would be overseas. The job advertisement said 40-60% travel but on the phone the interviewer said it was 60-80% for up to six weeks at a time. This was to much travel for me. I also declined the offer because I felt that the company didn't care about their employees; at least their potential employes. After this interview process, I was concerned that I would be sent to work on a job and then the company would forget about me and I'd have to find my own way home. Not too bad unless I was overseas.
