    Activities Assistant Interview

Anonymous Employee in Amelia Island, FL
    Accepted Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Arbor Company Senior Living (Amelia Island, FL) in Jan 2020

The application online was very long. I didn't mind this because I knew that it was for a Senior Living Community and I felt that they truly needed to vet their employees.
After this, I received a call for an interview which happened quickly. I liked that.
I was interviewed by the Activities Director for Assisted Living and Memory Care. She seemed very positive and upbeat. She talked about how great of a place Arbor was to work and I believed her because most of the people I saw in the halls looked very happy.
I was then shown around the building and introduced to as many of the Directors who were there at the time - including the manager. Everyone was very excited and all smiles. It seemed like an amazing place to be. I was most impressed with how well the staff seemed to be treated and how wonderful the facility was. It will take your breath away.
After being shown around, the manager wanted me to meet with HR. I waited for her to finish lunch and then met with her immediately. HR informed me about the high turnover with an understanding that the Engagement Director for Assisted Living / Memory Care had brought that up already. They had apparently lost 5 people in a month. I should have seen this as a red flag but I am the type of person who is committed and can push through personality differences and challenging work environments. I saw this as an opportunity to lead and be recognized especially because I was being constantly told about how Arbor promotes from within and takes care of their employees.
After I left, they contacted two of my references.
I was then called back and offered the position.

Have you ever worked with dementia patients before?
