Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

Pros

• Wholesome projects to work on that are for a good cause ( schools and education). • Friendly people. • Serbian engineers – the core foundation of the engineering group. They are the most honest

Cons

• High staff turnover – several management and other senior staff have left in a short time-frame. • Struggling to hire for any type of roles, solely due to not offering competitive market salaries

Advice to Management

Before recruiting for positions, be clear about what you expectations are for the role and ensure these are realistic. Value your senior staff members and reward them accordingly. Don't mislead

I applied through an employee referral I interviewed at Arbor Education Partners (London, England) in Aug 2022

    Interview

I had a chat with a lovely lady Sophie Elms in HR who gave me a brief overview of the role I was applying for and asked me a few questions, I was then passed on to the 1st stage interview and was provided with more information about Arbor and the interview process.

There are 2 interviews, both are an hour long. In the first interview we discussed my CV, my experience and I was asked a few competency based questions. I was also given the opportunity to ask a few questions of my own which was lovely.

After the Interview I spoke with Sophie who then informed me that I had passed the first stage. The second stage consisted of a task; presentation, competency and value based questions.

I am glad to say I successfully passed and have been offered the job, the whole process was quite quick and ran extremely well thanks to Sophie who kept me informed every step of the way and sent over all relevant information ahead of the interviews. The members of management who Interviewed me; Mark, Eva and Luke were all lovely, very knowledgeable and created a comfortable atmosphere.

The interview process has given me a tiny glimpse into what working at Arbor will be like and I am looking forward to it!
