Ascend Performance Materials is a global leader in the production of Nylon 6,6.
We have a long history in the manufacture of Nylon 6,6. In the 1950’s, Monsanto formed its Chemicals Division, which included the production of Nylon 6,6. In 1997, Monsanto spun off its Chemicals Division to form Solutia Inc. On June 1, 2009, SK Capital Partners, a private investment firm, purchased Solutia’s Integrated Nylon business and established Ascend Performance Materials LLC. SK Capital Partners has assembled a strong executive team with deep industry roots, and a commitment to the Nylon 6,6 market.
Our world scale manufacturing facilities are fully integrated, meaning we have complete ownership of the technology used to make Nylon 6,6. This gives us the flexibility to respond to the expanding needs of our customers. We are more focused than ever before on our customers – to understanding their unique challenges in the market, to developing product solutions that address their market needs, and to providing excellent customer and technical service. Ascend operates the largest acrylonitrile production plant in the world at our Chocolate Bayou facility near Alvin, Texas

Founded in 2011 after a tornado outbreak in northern Alabama impacted Ascend’s team members and their families near our Decatur, Alabama facility, the Ascend Cares Foundation provides financial support to team members in crisis and supports the communities in which we operate.
