I have been working at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College part-time (Less than a year)
A-B Tech's English Department is a pleasure to work with--plenty of support, from wihin the department, to IT, to other departments. In fact, one of the excellent aspects of the college is the interconnectedness of the college, providing a feeling of support for professors.
It's very difficult to move from adjunct to full-time professor. The competition is fierce.
Advice to Management
Though I realize that changing adjunct pay is a long-term problem that concerns those beyond Administration, it is important that Admin fights for those of us working as adjuncts. We've worked hard for advanced degrees, but continue to teach by sacrificing and living below the poverty line.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College (Asheville, NC) in February 2015.
Was asked about my experience in receivables, accounting and bookkeeping. It was a short to the point interview because i was just a temporary employee until the found someone with a bachelor's degree. It was just kind of a meet and greet as i was coming from a temp agency.
