Associated Grocers participated in the 2018 Providence Corporate Cup - 5k Run/Walk, held in Downtown Baton Rouge this past Saturday, March 24th. Associated Grocers' Creative Services Team designed the team shirts.
On Saturday evening, March 24, 2018, a banquet was held to recognize Associated Grocers' Truck Drivers for Safe Driving and Perfect Attendance. Over 50 Truck Drivers were recognized at Saturday's event.

When I applied in 2007, I came from working offshore, not knowing anything about Associated Grocers. My aunt told me AG had been around forever and sent me to apply after I found it hard to find employment because a lot of companies weren't hiring after Katrina. AG took me in like there was nothing to it.
Starting as an Order Selector, the warehouse back then was hectic, working long hours and lacking communication at times. Times have changed. Since I first began, I have received multiple promotional opportunities, most recently to the position of Industrial Engineering Coordinator, and additionally, I have seen other positive changes, such as shorter shifts and open communication, whether good or bad.
I am very grateful for the stability with which I have been provided, and I owe my success to my long-time manager, Wilbur Fabre. When I said I couldn't do something, he would say I could and assist me along the way. Although there were times when I felt my hard work was overlooked, I continued to be a dedicated and motivated employee and was thrilled when I was offered the Lead Label Control Clerk position. My hard work had paid off!
For anyone who is contemplating putting in an application, you should give AG a try. I know I have grown with the help of my supervisors and managers.
I arrived at Associated Grocers in 2010 with the goal of transitioning into a new career that would provide me with stability and plenty of opportunity for personal growth. I’ve now been with AG for 7 years and can honestly say that I have not been disappointed with my decision to join this Company. Throughout my time here I’ve worn many hats beginning with my role as a Dock Checker, which then lead to various supervision roles, and I am now currently positioned as the Logistics Control Manager.
My proudest moments with the Company have come through the chances I’ve been given to recruit and develop the talented employees that are under my guidance. Seeing my individual team members grow and succeed is a constant reminder of why I love what I do and this challenges me to continue to improve as a leader. The path to leadership that AG has provided me has bared lessons and tools that I use not only on the job but also in my personal life. Most importantly this Company has a solid work-life balance which has granted me the ability to spend quality time with my family.
I was looking for a job at a company that would not only challenge me, but guide and allow me to grow on a professional level. I was hired April of 2010 as an Order Filler. I worked hard and a year later I was asked to be a New Employee Trainer. The new position was more challenging than the previous. I was excited to work with the new hires. During my tenure as a Trainer, I learned how to be patient and communicate more effectively. I enjoyed the position because I met so many interesting and exciting people. After four years as a Trainer, I was promoted to Operations Supervisor. I am so happy that I chose Associated Grocers for employment, because not only do I work with such caring people but I have been given the opportunity to grow personally and professionally. I really believe no other company could have given me such a great and rewarding experience.
Opportunity was what initially led me to apply with Associated Grocers. I was hired September 8, 2014 as the Corporate Public Relations Specialist. When I first arrived, my position was in transition, combining some of the previous responsibilities of the role with that of several others. My role allows me to collaborate with multiple departments and develop those relationships, while improving awareness of our corporate brand. I work on the Company’s Annual Report and other communication mediums such as corporate ad campaigns, the employee and retailer newsletters and various collateral print material for Associated Grocers. I have the privilege of working with our retailers, documenting their successes through formats such as Retailer Milestone profiles. The opportunities I saw when I was initially hired have continued to be made available to me.
I truly work in an encouraging environment, with creative people. I appreciate that encouragement, the support and recognition I have received from my leadership. Whether it’s a pat on the back for a job well done from work on a project, or simply during motivational life moments….my leadership ensures that I am supported at work. I have partnered with our teams to help provide outstanding corporate events for our retailers such as the Food Shows as well as smaller events for our staff such as the American Heart Walk and Bake Sale. My position with Associated Grocers has allowed me to share the stories of our retailers’ successes, our company’s continued initiatives, and our employees’ achievements. The opportunities to grow in a multi-faceted position doing meaningful work, with the continued support I receive from my team, are the reasons I enjoy working at Associated Grocers.

Associated Grocers, Inc. was organized on May 23, 1950 with 17 member stores. The original membership consisted of grocers from old and respected business families of Baton Rouge. I can't imagine working for a better company. My coworkers and everyone I work with are like family. There are opportunities for growth and I truly feel part of the team. I am beyond grateful to have a job I love coming to and coworkers I enjoy working with.

Advice to Management
The little things are what make such a huge difference- showing appreciation and making everyone feel on the same team. Company gatherings and functions mean so much when we live in such a fast paced time.
