Wellness plans: How Nashville businesses overcome workplace stress

Stressed at work? You're not alone. According to Vital Signs 2016, a study led by the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce, the region is home to a "higher-than-national prevalence" of chronic conditions like depression, hypertension and diabetes. And with nearly 1 million workers in Nashville's metro area, employers play a significant role in individuals' stress and wellness levels.

  • Barry Vandevier, CIO and President of Operations, shares how Asurion is rethinking team structure to be able to deliver a better customer experience. http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQAwo

How to merge IT and product development into one department

With software making its way into the products and services of most companies, it can be hard to determine where the work of IT stops and where product development starts. As executive teams begin to redraw the lines of accountability for "technology" versus "product," CIOs would be wise to start bringing a product management mindset to the table.

We’re tech professionals. But our passion is for the people who use it.

On one hand, Asurion is a tech company with more bells and whistles, gadgets and cutting-edge technology than you can imagine. But we’re all about people. And it’s why we focus our collective philanthropic efforts on helping people- in a program called Compassion Forward. Through it, we support our own team members and those in our communities by partnering with charitable organizations that help kids through the power of education.

We know that life can be tough. Our Compassion Fund is another way we commit to each other; it’s how we acknowledge that we’re all in this together. Funded by Asurion people, the funds are available to coworkers who have a financial need due to a catastrophic or life altering event.

We keep your life running. We help get younger lives started.

The way we see it, all kids should have access to the educational opportunities that are the building blocks to successful lives. In the real world, things don’t always work that way. That’s why we work with organizations that are making a difference in the lives of students for the long term.

On a national level, our partners in these efforts are Teach for America and KIPP Academy. However, we also have partnerships with local organizations in each of our communities.

We take this commitment a step farther by supporting team members who volunteer their time or
talents to organizations that fit our mission. In fact, we work to match Asurion people––with the
right skills and the right amount of time––with the needs of the communities in which we operate.

Life doesn’t come with directions. That’s why we’re here to help.

As part of our continuing commitment to the Compassion Forward mission, Asurion also gives direct financial support to charitable organizations that match our mission. financial support to charitable organizations that align with our mission.
