At Author Solutions, we have helped more than 160,000 authors self-publish, promote, and bring to market more than 200,000 new titles and reach their publishing goals. Through our leading self-publishing imprints—AuthorHouse, iUniverse, Trafford and Xlibris, and through strategic alliances with leading trade publishers, such as Thomas Nelson and Hay House, we have helped lead an indie revolution in publishing. In addition to helping the dreams of aspiring authors come true in the US and Canada, we also offer self-publishing imprints in the UK, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Singapore.
Our comprehensive suite services include everything from prepublication services, such as editing and illustrations, to publishing design and formatting, to marketing and publicity, to distribution in all print and digital formats. In fact, we currently have more than 130,000 titles available for all e-book readers.
Along with helping authors get their books into the hands of readers, we have also helped them get their work into the hands of Hollywood entertainment executives who are looking for new ideas for film and television. Our unique Book-to-Screen services and Book-to-Screen Pitchfest give authors unprecedented access to entertainment executives who want to find new material to adapt for the screen and stage. We have also created a one-of-a-kind database called the Author Solutions Hollywood Database, which can only be accessed by qualified entertainment executives who want to peruse our tagged content to find the next big idea for the big screen or television series.
At Author Solutions, we have launched a number of groundbreaking self-publishing imprints with leading traditional publishers. With these strategic partnerships, we develop everything including the initial website design, products and services and the lead generation plan. In addition, we provide all sales, production, fulfillment and customer support. These imprints provide a unique opportunity for authors who want to make sure their book is being watched by a traditional publisher, but they also present an unmatched opportunity for the partner to discover new talent cost-efficiently.
By utilizing our proprietary ERP and CRM publishing platform, we are able to move into the market very quickly and offer the full range of prepublication, publishing, marketing and distribution services authors need.
I worked at Author Solutions full-time (More than a year)
I thought the management team was fantastic. They are very approachable and really want you to succeed in your role. They care about making sure you are challenging yourself and getting better at your job. I felt that my manager really wanted me to feel like there were career opportunities. The coworkers were very nice, most were very personable and helpful. The benefits are also pretty good.
The physical appearance of the office was a little dated. I think they have sense started revitalization, but when I was there, it was not the most updated work environment. Not a lot of collaboration from people other than your team. Most people outside of your immediate team tend to keep to themselves. The break room doesn't really offer much in the way of snacks, coffee and fruit which is usually gone before 9am.
Advice to Management
I would like to see more community outreach efforts and since it is part of a larger organization, I would like to see if there is ability to change careers or explore other aspects of the parent company.
I applied online. I interviewed at Author Solutions (Bloomington, IN) in April 2015.
Great interview. Great people. But it's been over a month and I still don't know if they've chosen anyone. Supposedly issues with getting approval. Not so interested anymore. How do they remember you after a month? They only met with me once. Applied for other jobs because I was tired of waiting for this "dream job" to give me an answer.
