I worked at Avalanche Studios full-time (More than 3 years)
Avalanche has an amazing team with a strong sense of community. Everyone is very intelligent and professional with a common goal of shipping great games.
The time difference between Stockholm and New York gives the team only a few hours during the day to connect with their colleges across the ocean. The short window to communicate can lead the site specific teams to feel isolated from one another. It requires a lot of initiative from the individual team members to forge cross studio connections.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Avalanche Studios (New York, NY) in December 2016.
Involved a lot of in depth questions regarding programs like Substance Designer (know the nodes) and bringing stuff through the pipeline. The skype interview was generally used to test know-how of PBR pipeline and workflow.
Today, our very own Rob Meyer joins the Game Design Panel at CIG 2017.
