    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Averitt Express (United States) in Apr 2022

    Interview

I ended the interview before it even started.

I applied to the position since I will be returning to school to get a degree in cybersecurity, as well as have years of experience in IT support, software support and database administration. I got an invite to a hiring event so I decided to attend in case there was a tech job that I had missed and get more information in general. I waited for 40 min to only be told that there is a no visible tattoo policy and that I would have to wear gloves to cover the tattoos on my hands if I wanted to work for Averitt.

I told the interviewer that if my tattoos were going to be a problem, then I would not want to work for them and left. I have had my tattoos for a long time and this would not have even bothered me if my time wasn't wasted. The policy is not mentioned AT ALL in the ridiculously long application process. The employee that let me into the building very clearly saw my tattoos and said nothing. They let me sit there for 40 minutes instead of taking a few seconds to inform me of their policy. I have worked for IT contractors that do business with government agencies that could care less about what is on your body as long as you have to the skills necessary. I mention this to remind anyone reading this about how out dated such a policy is.

If you are going to be applying to this company, I would advise you to save your time and reconsider. I live in the town where their corporate office is and their nepotism is so blatant that it has become a joke among our community and even openly embraced by their employees.
