What makes Babson so different? We firmly believe it’s our sense of identity that sets us apart. We’re a diverse place to work and study, with diverse opportunities for our community staff members who provide a variety of skill sets, backgrounds, and aspirations. But, there’s a clear, shared sense of purpose that brings our community together.
Our mission is simple: as a world-class business school, Babson College shapes entrepreneurs of all kinds who create great economic and social value everywhere. We’re a collaborative, collegial environment, built for self-starters, designed to empower every individual to maximize his or her expertise. If you bring us your unique talents and ideas, we’ll give you the environment you need to fulfill your personal potential.
By embracing change, valuing fresh perspectives and fostering new experiences, we create a genuinely open, respectful, and energizing team environment, where everyone is motivated, involved, and included. We give our people the freedom to focus on the things that they feel passionate about, with the autonomy, accountability, and encouragement to achieve their goals. It’s a rewarding, challenging, and constantly invigorating workplace—an exciting launch pad for people who want to make a real impact in the world of education.
There is something special about working at Babson College. The students in our programs are learning to become the change-makers of tomorrow—and every employee, in every role here, is helping those students achieve their goals and make the most of their future.
We celebrate entrepreneurship and we encourage that same style of entrepreneurial thinking—flexibility, creativity, and the capacity to see change as an opportunity—in our employees. Our openness to new ideas means that we attract talented people from all backgrounds. Across our faculty, across our teams, across our campus, we’re all Babson; but equally, we’re all here because of the opportunities to engage with new ideas, to think differently, and to take action.
It’s the diversity of our thinking, our ideas, and our perspectives that enables us to create such a unique learning environment. As a community of people, we have a shared passion for learning and intellectual growth. So, we encourage networking, relationship building, and cross-departmental collaboration. We promote self-development and continuous learning. We provide all of our people with multiple opportunities to explore how they can enhance their skills through a variety of professional experiences—so you’re never simply climbing a traditional career ladder.
Everybody at Babson is treated as an individual. Our goal as an employer is to ensure that every one of our community staff members feels empowered in the present and excited about the future. To achieve this, we have created a working culture that strikes the right balance between challenging our community staff members and supporting them.
As a College, our commitment doesn’t end at 5 p.m. We need to be responsive to the needs of our students, creating a real community where people can study, live, socialize, and feel safe. Every role at Babson contributes to this community culture. Every one of our community staff members plays a role in helping our students to realize their entrepreneurial ambitions. We also provide our community staff members with everything they need to achieve their goals, including:
Trust, respect, and civility bring out the best in people. We respect and behave ethically toward each other and our external partners. We practice social and civic responsibility in the greater communities to which we belong.
We value our membership in a lifelong community that is broadly diverse. We believe that differences make Babson a richer community and provide the necessary contexts for shared accomplishment. We welcome and value people and their perspectives and respect the interests of all of the members of the community.
We have a long-standing commitment to an institutional culture that fosters creativity, risk-taking, continuous improvement, leadership, and an entrepreneurial spirit. We encourage people to take the initiative and make a difference.
Our commitment to cross-disciplinary collaboration and to working closely with students defines the practices of the faculty, administration, staff and who work on the campus of Babson College. Together with our alumni, and with our external partners, we create a learning and working experience that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Babson College is committed to excellence. Ours is a community in which all members can achieve their personal best. We seek to support each other thoughtfully for continuous growth and development.
Babson College educates entrepreneurial leaders who create great economic and social value—everywhere.
We want to be the preeminent institution in the world for Entrepreneurial Thought & Action®—and known for it. We want to expand the notion of entrepreneurship to embrace and celebrate entrepreneurs of all kinds. We want to put the power of entrepreneurship as a force for economic and social value creation in as many hands in the world as we can.
Our staff has a real connection with the faculty and with our students. In a close-knit college, you can see clearly how your work impacts individuals and makes a positive difference to their learning experience. It’s never just a job at Babson. It’s always an opportunity to develop your skills and to help somebody else achieve their entrepreneurial ambitions. The three key reasons why people thrive here are:
We care about how our students develop and it’s reflected in the amount of support we offer. We also care about our people and we offer lots of opportunities for recognition and rewards. It’s all part of being a great place to work.
Being a community, not just a college, is an important element in our broader outlook. We share values, we share goals, and we share important experiences as we work together. Wherever possible, we foster that sense of community and inclusivity.
Babson is an established brand in education. Being part of an organization that is confident about the future and knows exactly what it wants to achieve means that you can be confident about your career development, too.
I have been working at Babson College full-time
Great mission, generous benefits, wonderful environment
Some of the longer standing employees are cliquey and look down on newbies.
Advice to Management
Get people to work across departments much better and there will be more success and collaboration. Modernize the place more and you may not need as many people and old ways of doing business.
I applied online. I interviewed at Babson College.
I had at least 5 meetings, including a phone interview. I had both 1:1 and group meetings, one a half day that I needed to talk off work.. Very positive reactions. Very qualified for position including I was teaching same courses at another Boston college. I was very surprised and disappointed that I got just an email saying I was not the chosen candidate...no explanation just "we have decided not to offer you an appointment". I asked for deciding factors and still received back a vague response.
