I worked at Baltimore City Public School System (More than 10 years)
Great professional development
Resilient students and parents
Plethora of resources
Biased principals who employed Gestapo like tactics
Low morale at schools with cookie cutter principals who spent short time teaching and do not adequately understand pedagogy or child development
Advice to Management
Stop costing the system money by failing to retain good teachers.
Be objective and not led by personal, petty vendettas
Support your teachers to stabilize the school environment and boost morale
I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Baltimore City Public School System (Baltimore, MD).
Principal was a bit ill-informed about my background. Had a unexpected "show me what you got" request with students during interview. Make sure you research the school that you are going to interview for and get multiple opinions. The interview was OK, as a first year teacher you do not know what to expect but there normal job questions were ask and I was asked to present my skills etc. unexpctedly
