I worked at BancorpSouth full-time (More than 3 years)
A great laid back bank. Good job for recent college grads or for someone in a couple that has double income... Most positions are definitely sales based, but as a teller, I got about a year in training before 100% sales were demanded of me.
Dated teller system, but I believe a new system is in the works by now. You will never move up in this company or make much money unless you get involved in loans. But that seems to be the case in most banks. I cross trained for every teller/CSR position, knew our customers by name, helped our branch get a top audit score for the first time in a long time, and ranked high in monthly sales... My raise request got rejected by Tupelo due to a new "employee review" system. Reviews take nearly 6 months to be complete and no one gets ranked above average. 1 being the lowest ranking. 5 the highest. Most people get ranked at 3 or lower, meaning raises are rarely over 3% of annual pay. I think my raise the previous year added about $300 to my TOTAL annual income. My coworker who got a slightly higher ranking and has worked for the company for several years got about $500 added to her annual income. What a joke.
Advice to Management
Give dedicated employees raises! There was no way I could stay at this job and support myself long term or ever have my own apartment.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at BancorpSouth (Tupelo, MS) in July 2015.
Phone Interview that lasted about 10 Mins. with questions pertaining to duties of a ROS. The interviewer was made up of one other ROS and the person who would be your immediate supervisor.
