I worked at Bank of Ireland (Less than a year)
I was an intern under the Retail Banking division. As an intern, I was given relevant work and the freedom to work on my tasks. I also had friendly and helpful colleagues who taught me the basics of the job. I like that the relationships/communication within the division were not very hierarchical. Furthermore, I was not expected to work overtime and could leave if I had completed my tasks.
Due to the financial crisis, the workforce had to be reduced in the following years and a number of positions were removed entirely. Thus, sometimes I could not contact the person with the most knowledge about a certain task.
I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Bank of Ireland (Chicago, IL) in January 2015.
Had a great chat with the GM. He was very personable. I felt as though they really look after their employees, and are dedicated to finding someone who is the right fit for the company. The interview felt more like a conversation, where we were both getting to know each other; I learned a lot about the Fado pubs, and got to appreciate how different they are from the majority of generic chains out there in the US. I would have been delighted to take the job if something else in a different field had not presented itself.
