I worked at Bates White Economic Consulting full-time (More than a year)
Bates White is a fantastic place to work, and anyone who says otherwise has likely not worked anywhere else. Sure, the hours are variable and can be intense during some periods, but you are compensated and rewarded nicely for hard work, and generally your colleagues are pleasant to spend the long nights with. This is not the case at most consulting firms.
The work itself is fascinating for anyone interested in economics, law, or finance.
You get a lot of autonomy and chances to shine.
The culture is great--lots of happy hours, free meals, social events, and amazing people.
Hours can be highly variable depending on which case you are assigned to.
Job satisfaction and advancement opportunities seem correlated to the practice area you are in.
Advice to Management
Keep open the lines of communication with employees at all levels--it is great for morale.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Bates White Economic Consulting.
The interview process was as expected. They asked general behavior questions and then went through a case interview. The case interview started more general asking about economic concepts that applied to the issue and then got more quantitative.
