“I work as a Manager in the Engineering department managing 5 teams of software engineers. My favorite thing about my job is the people I get to interact with every single day. Because of our polished interview process, we only hire the best talent, and by that I mean people with the right skills AND the right attitude. Everyone on the team has an ownership mentality, I have not experienced this anywhere else. Additionally the leadership team is always looking for ways to help the team be successful and become the best professionals we can be.”
Isa Rocha, Senior Manager, Software Engineering
“I work in the Research and Development group at Beachbody and have the privilege of formulating our premium nutrition products. It is a fast-paced environment where my work has a positive impact on the customer every day. I enjoy working at Beachbody because I'm part of a committed and passionate team and there is a company-wide feeling that consumer value is mission critical.”
Richard Andrew, Senior Director, Product Development
“What I most appreciate about working at Beachbody is being given the opportunity to create and build a proofreading department from the ground up. Having started an editorial services department earlier in my career was a great foundation for helping make our department into a tight and organized team, familiar with the intricacies of the Beachbody brand plus having the ability to be flexible in the face of sometimes inflexible deadlines. I've got a talented team I'm so proud of and I'm also grateful for my boss (and mentor) who not only encouraged but also supported me in growing our team into a responsive and intuitive department.”
Lyn Fey, Director, Proofreading

I have been working at Beachbody full-time (More than a year)
- Opportunities & Great People: Beachbody grew fast and like any company who goes through that, the processes and technology that support it were developed quickly and organically, without necessarily a sense of what would be the best solution long term. As the company now matures, the challenges we face center around optimization and the opportunities to get involved in that transformation are everywhere. Internally, it's thinking about how we can do what we do but better, simpler, faster, and with less expense? For our end consumers, it's what can we do to improve their lives - to make it easier for them to commit and stay committed to a healthy lifestyle. Tackling these challenges is invigorating and doing so with all of the smart and fun people on your team makes it even better.
- Professional Development: Beachbody has a strong focus on Professional Development and Advancement. Every employee in the company receives a significant allocation of funding each year to pursue their own professional development, and the company offers various training opportunities every month at each of their office locations in Los Angeles. Training opportunities range from specific technical concepts and skills, to the critical skills required for managing a diverse group of people including the much loved “Awesome Manager” program. I completed the 3 day “Awesome Manager” course earlier this year and it was simply the most impactful professional development of my career. It’s a program I will never forget and strongly recommend to all of my colleagues.
The flip side to a working at a company that has grown rapidly is that things can seem chaotic at times. This may not be the best place to work for somebody who likes things to be predictable and in a steady state. However, while in the past I’ve seen this company taking sharp directional changes seemingly on a whim, the tolerance for that at the executive level is waning. A cross-team decision is now required to make significant changes which allows the leadership team to understand the impact of the proposed change across the entire organization and make an informed decision as to what is in the best interest of the company and its employees.
Advice to Management
Support your Leaders. It would benefit the company as a whole to invest in executive coaching or structured mentorship for all of those at a VP level and above. Strong leaders attract talent, build strong teams, and will accomplish great things for the company. Help them succeed by giving them the individual coaching and support they need to improve themselves as individuals, as leaders, and to make a lasting impact on this great company.
The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Beachbody.
Phone call from recruiter who just started screening me on the fly without asking if it was a good time. No follow up email from recruiter. Phone interview with a team leader. Completed Personality Index test online, as well as quantitative test. In person panel interview. No follow-up post interview. I think a courtesy rejection note, even if it's a computer generated blanket note, is a baseline standard. For an applicant who spends hours of time interviewing and takes an online test, ghosting is sub standard. The field of HR is talking now about the crucial importance of the applicant experience and this company fell flat by not following up with any sort of formal rejection.
