It’s fun
Our business has long-standing roots, but don’t be fooled. Beam Suntory doesn’t look – or act – its age. From distilleries to offices to sales jobs in the field interacting with our customers on the front lines, we thrive together in a work atmosphere employees love – charged, creative, energetic, challenging, collaborative and just plain fun.

You can make a difference
Beam Suntory’s structure of minimal hierarchy gives our employees the opportunity to take personal ownership of projects that matter from day one. At Beam Suntory, the power is in your hands to learn, improve and grow both personally and professionally.

Corporate Headquarters - Chicago, IL

While the heart of our company lies in the distilleries that produce our world famous products, here is where we bring our brands to life. Our global corporate headquarters, located in the heart of the great city of Chicago, features a unique open collaboration concept to foster our relationship-based culture mixed with our matrixed structure.

Jim Beam - Clermont, KY

A trip to our Jim Beam distillery, is a transforming experience: you'll come as a friend, and leave as family. You’ll see why crafting the finest bourbon is about more than quality ingredients and a meticulous aging process—it's also about values like honestly, integrity, tradition and heritage. In 2012, we'll open our distillery doors to the public for the first time. On the brand new Jim Beam® Distillery Tour, you'll get a behind-the-scenes look at the craftsmanship and expertise that goes into every single bottle.

Maker's Mark - Loretto, KY

They say seeing is believing. If you're ever in this neck of the woods, stop by the distillery to experience Whisky Magazine’s 2011 “Visitor Attraction of the Year.” There's nothing like it. Since the first bottle sold in 1958, each bottle is still hand-dipped with the iconic red wax by people, not machines. Heck, we’ll even let you dip your own bottle!

Courvoisier - Jarnac, France

Built by our founders Felix Courvoisier and Jules Gallois in the 1840s, our magnificent Château is our home to Courvoisier to this day. It is here that our rarest and most precious cognacs are housed in the secretive Paradis cellar and Patrice Pinet, our Master Blender, conducts daily nosing and tasting sessions with his tasting team. Stop by and experience a revolutionary journey through over 200 years of Courvoisier history.

Laphroaig - Islay, Scotland

For nearly 200 years a small team of dedicated islanders have worked here to create what is considered to be the most distinctive single malt in the world. Over time the people change, but our traditional methods, the ancient skills and absolute dedication to quality always remains. Make the journey to visit the home of Laphroaig and you will be assured of the warmest of welcomes.

Yamazaki Distillery - KYOTO, JAPAN

YAMAZAKI is Japan's first and oldest distillery, established in 1923 by Suntory's founder Shinjiro Torii. Inspired by traditional Scottish whisky, Torii envisioned a Japanese approach by choosing a terrain and climate completely different to those of Scotland to create a unique kind of whisky. Yamazaki is thus the birthplace of Japanese whisky, where water and mountains offer abundance and diversity in nature and temperature - create damp conditions ideal for aging whisky in its precious casks.

    - Decent benefits with 4% 401K match, 7% profit sharing and 20 PTO days to start.
    - Culture is very fast paced but never becomes contentious. Even with deadlines, everyone remains very casual, friendly and collaborative.
    - The people are very smart and genuinely take an interest in getting to know each other.
    - Brands and categories are a TON of fun to work on. Especially in marketing - spirits is a very interesting category to work in.
    - Office is in a great location for both city and suburb commuters, with a cool open (but not too open) work space.

    - Tendency to reorg every 6-12 months makes it hard for brands to maintain continuity and for teams that work on the brands to become true experts/stewards of the brand.
    - Constant fire drills when questions or suggestions come down from upper management. Often creates unnecessary work, spinning of wheels, and contradictory direction.
    - Working teams are very lean, meaning there is often too much work to get done during the day. But as long as you can prioritize and communicate capacity, people don't expect you to work nights/weekends.
    - Middle management level is very crowded, meaning it's difficult for lower level employees to see a path upward.

    Advice to Management

    - Recognize that simple questions or suggestions from you are being taken as direction and causing unnecessary fire drills. Allow teams to push back when your suggestions aren't the right thing to do for the business.
    - Stop reorganizing the teams so often so people can build true knowledge and connection to their brands.

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Beam Suntory in May 2018.

The interview process was pretty standard. There was a phone screening with HR. There was a one-on-one Interview with the hiring manager and a final larger interview with the brand team. Overall, the process was very expedient.

    Interview Questions

    • The questions were actually very fun. The questions were marketing case questions as well as questions about how you stay up to date on marketing trends in the industry and what brand in the portfolio would you market differently and why?   1 Answer
