I have been working at Becht Engineering full-time (Less than a year)
Growth focused. Family Business Model with a real family feel. They are customer driven with a mantra of "From the Owners Perspective". The sense I get is that they are about "getting it right the first time" and that is how they drive customer value. As employee, I think this is the best place I have ever worked. They have embraced my knowledge and ideas from my previous experience BUT they are a learning organization and they integrate these ideas into their family style structure. So the teach and they learn. Very good combination from an employee's perspective. Tons of really smart people that listen but also have really good ideas themselves. Lots of "Aha" and "Wow" moments since I have been here, but lots of recognition for my contributions as well.
Expectations are high, but not unreasonable. Technologies are changing, but for the better, so adaptation needs to be made on a pretty regular basis.
Advice to Management
Keep the every other Friday off model. Employees love it. Keep the company Thursday lunch going. Growth creates opportunities but don't lose sight of that family culture and striving for excellence.
I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Becht Engineering (Baytown, TX) in November 2013.
At the Baytown, TX office I was interviewed by all staff (there are only 4 others in the office), as well as the division manager. Most asked the same questions, and all provided a very honest view of the company and experience.
I was able to negotiate my salary. Do not sell yourself short! Be confident and firm in your requirements.
