June is Pride Month.
RecruitMilitary's May 28th event at Heinz Field is going virtual. While our recruiters certainly enjoy speaking with job seekers in person, this online venue gives us the opportunity to meet individuals outside of the Pittsburgh area. If you're a US military job seeker or their spouse, be sure to register for this great event.
Bechtel Plant Machinery, Inc. (BPMI) is a prime contractor for the United States Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program (NNPP). We are a project engineering organization responsible for providing design, manufacturing, and procurement management for the fabrication, testing, delivery, installation, and field support of high quality nuclear power plant components for installation in submarines and aircraft carriers.
BPMI also supports the operating fleet by providing upgraded and replacement components during refueling and overhauls, as well as delivering information technology solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
The nuclear components developed and procured by our team of talented engineers and support professionals have been used to power huge aircraft carriers and submarines of all types and sizes. Teamwork, cooperation, and the pursuit of excellence have been the driving forces behind the growth and success of BPMI. For more than 60 years, we have been at the forefront of technological and operational innovation.
Since 1956, at the direct request of the Navy's Admiral Hyman G. Rickover, our employees have successfully supported our nation's fleet and sailors in various aspects of the design, development, and continuing support of Naval Nuclear Propulsion (NNPP) equipment—a vital part of our nation's defense. We work with our many partners to deliver and maintain safe, reliable, and cost-effective products that ensure the long-term viability of the NNPP.

I have been working at Bechtel Plant Machinery full-time (More than 3 years)
- Meaningful work, supporting our nation's sailors
- Great people
- Stable job
- Workplace culture/environment continues to improve
- Good work-life balance (you have to leave work at work)
- Security requirements can be cumbersome (faxes / paper vs. electronic communication with some suppliers; no laptops or personal cell phones)
- Clearance process and required training makes hiring and on-boarding drawn out
I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Bechtel Plant Machinery (Monroeville, PA) in March 2019.
After the WVU Career Fair, BPMI reached out for a phone call to learn more about myself and to answer a few questions. After a week or so I then scheduled for an onsite interview with BPMI. They compensate the interviewee for travel expenses post interview, so keep track of expenses and miles traveled! The interview itself takes place within the main building, but not past the interior security screening entrance within the building. There is a conference room attached to the lobby within which the process took place.
