Benco Dental – Why Work For Us?

Benco Dental is not just a company – here you’re a member of the family.

At Benco Dental, our decision to remain a privately-held company unconstrained by Wall Street pressures has thrown the door wide open for us to think differently. And for us, different is better. We call it “The Benco Difference.”  We consider each associate an extended member of the Cohen family and work meticulously to create a family-friendly environment where everyone is treated with respect. In return, we insist that all of our associates work as a team to make Benco Dental’s mission and vision a reality.

At the head of our family is our Chief Customer Advocate, Larry Cohen. Whenever you have a question, comment or concern – you can always contact the man on top.

We value challenging work, creativity, diversity, continuous improvement, learning, accountability and fun! We believe that our culture drives our success – and that having people with a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences doesn’t happen by accident.

Making a difference, smile after smile.

The mission of the Benco Family Foundation is simple. We are dedicated to improving the dental health and quality of life in our local communities and around the world.

The Benco Family Foundation annually supports over 100 charities and donates 150,000 toothbrushes to children and families.

If your organization or project exhibits leadership, effectiveness and has a long-term impact upon the lives of the people in our communities – please review the Benco Family Foundation grant application below.

Culture & Philosophy

We owe our success to our employees, the backbone in ensuring customer satisfaction on a day-to-day basis. We strive to find top performers in their fields to continue to provide the utmost service and experience to our customers.

At Benco, we believe that in order to stand out and provide a better customer experience, you must grow different. We are always looking for ways to improve and even have a dedicated department to improving company processes. The Benco Continuous Improvement (BCI) team is focused on making the experiences of both employees and customers simple, effective and satisfying.

In addition to improving our procedures and customer experiences, we actively look for ways to improve the communities in which Benco does business in every day. You can find our associates participating in charitable walks, volunteering in classrooms and helping to build homes. We also donate 5% of our profits to charity.

Culture and Philosophy

Benco Dental employs more than 1,300 dedicated, enthusiastic, caring individuals, helping both the customers we serve and the communities we touch. It starts with our new CenterPoint facility, which qualifies for LEED Silver Certification, a federal program recognizing environmentally conscious companies. The goal for the new facility is to reduce trash waste by 50% and physical server usage by 35%. Benco Dental has also instituted new, fuel-efficient service vans with high-tech GPS routing systems and implemented strict recycling programs for everything from paper, plastic and glass to aluminum, eyeglasses, batteries and cell phones.

Benco Continuous Improvement (BCI) is a division of Benco Dental solely devoted to improving the company’s processes. Through training seminars, kaizen (Japanese for improvement) events, talent management initiatives and many other programs, BCI works to make Benco Dental a little better each day—for both associates and customers. In 2010, BCI implemented almost 500 employee-submitted ideas in addition to completing 35 kaizen events.

Benco Gives Back: The Community Boosters are a group of Associate Volunteers, who focus on community involvement. Our volunteer hours are continuously improving, as we continue to exceed our goal year after year! We support many nationally recognized charities—big and small. We take every associate suggestion into consideration and participate where we are most needed! ALL associates are welcome & encouraged to participate in Community Booster activities. I have been working at Benco Dental full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Company is great if you work for the right (leaders) managers. If 'career' is your goal, this is a great company to focus on.

    Cons

Pockets of micromanagement. Sometimes there isn't full alignment in strategy between departments. Sometimes mediocrity is tolerated at the supervisor and management levels.

    Advice to Management

When you find the great ones, encourage and stay out if their way.

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Benco Dental (Reno, NV) in February 2016.

    Interview

If you have months to apply for a job and time for 10 interviews on what you did in high school this job is for you. First you get an interview phone call then the hiring managers calls then the director of sales then the HR dept then back to the hiring manager. I feel like a yo-yo
