Mission: Laughter...is the best cosmetic.
I have been working at BeneFit Cosmetics full-time (More than a year)
Creating great relationships with customers and coworkers, gratis, great benefits, sick days keep building up, holiday pay, paid time off, training and good sales experience. You can transfer to other locations.
Working in Macy's, way to many issues going on with that, it's really bad so I'm not going to get into it.
Retail, you have really bad hours no work life balance whatsoever! You have to sell sell sell and deal with really rude and sometimes crazy customers.
You have to request time off 2 months in advance now and if it falls on a day or week of an event you're tough out of luck.
Raises are unbelievably low and aren't always give in out and are just all over the board that it doesn't make sense.
No value, once you're in you're stuck. Hard to move up no opportunities for advancement.
Each location is a little different some worse then others, but can be very disorganized, catty, and fake.
Advice to Management
Time to step it up. Think of new strategies to help build Benefit inside of Macy's stores or get out of Macy's. Possibly open up boutiques in malls instead it would bring in more foot traffic and more sales in the long run. Most people don't even notice that Benefit is inside of Macy's with so many other makeup counters it's to much to look at and customers will ask us how long has a Benefit been in Macy's they never noticed all the years they've been through the mall/Macy's. Also up your game on stock! Macy's locations are always low now, it's embarrassing and causing more customers to shop online.
I applied online. I interviewed at BeneFit Cosmetics.
I received a phone interview with the hiring manager within a week after I applied on the company website. About 30 minutes talk about experience and position. And I just got an onsite interview request today. The process has been pretty quick and smooth. Specific experience will be updated after I complete the interview. :)
