    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Beyond Meat.

    Interview

I had a phone interview with HR who told me that the hiring manager was very interested in talking to me. I was told I had to give a very informal presentation of my research and we agreed on a date for the interview. About a week after this, HR tells me that certain directors would not be in town on the original date we agreed on meaning that the interview would have to occur sooner. He suggests other dates and we pick one. I already had several obligations penned into my calendar that I had to either cancel or postpone because of the date change. It also gave me very little time to prepare for the interview because it was right after a major holiday. I show up to the interview and only one of the people HR said I would meet with was present meaning that the date change was unnecessary. They placed me in a small room and I talked to one of the scientists who essentially said that they were hiring like crazy and that the criteria were pretty relaxed in terms of background and previous research. After giving my presentation, I received immediate negative feedback that my skillset was not really what the company was looking for. I was escorted rather rudely out of the building following that.
