Mission: Enrich the lives of Americans who are blind through the dignity of work valued by customers and the community.
I have been working at Beyond Vision full-time (More than 8 years)
Beyond Vision now uses the metephor of being like a runway. Like a 'runway', Beyond Vision is a place to land and a place to take off in your career. We offer a hand up not a hand out. We offer people an oportunity to show that they can 'do it'.
We are still living down our reputation. Today Beyond Vision is a social enterprise. "This ain't your Grandfather's sheltered workshop." We are a company that employs people, some of which happen to be visually impaired and blind.
Advice to Management
Keep true to the idea that you don't need sight to have vision. Sight is only one way to see. Stay focused on the philosophy of refuse to accept that vision loss or no vision at all should define what you can or can't do.
I applied online. I interviewed at Beyond Vision (Milwaukee, WI) in February 2016.
There was a phone interview that was a review of qualifications. That was followed by an in-person with the manager and HR which was focused on abilities. The next week I had another in-person interview with the manager, HR and CEO. Was very conversational, went beyond resume into personality and attitude.
