Advice to Management
Employees = happiest when they have a clear idea as to management's plan.
I applied online. I interviewed at BitTitan (Kirkland, WA) in July 2017.
First step was an email with a take home data science test, i.e. given the data set identify the most isolated location’s Location Id for each geographical location. A bit ambiguous question but OK, not too difficult, I submitted the answers the same day and solved it using python. Then there was a follow-up phone call w/ the hiring manager two weeks later. Interviewer spoke via a speaker phone and the sound was muffled during the whole interview; frustrating, not a good experience since it was difficult to understand what he was saying and asking. Overall pretty general questions about cultural fit, e.g. what would you like to do at bittitan, tell me about your past data science experiences & how it relates to this position, etc. A couple of days later got a template-ized email saying although the skill sets were impressive they were moving forward with other candidates and that bittitan did not share interview feedback, thus don't ask for any. Period. No justification nor chance to provide any feedback whatsoever; a thank you and good luck. Overall I felt the process was a bit disorganized but mostly very opaque. I'd say overall it was something between a neutral to thumbs down experience.
