I have been working at Blackstone Group - full-time

Being a small company, Blackstone has to rely heavily on its employees as its main resource. Luckily, there are a lot of good people, especially on the project team, that work hard and make the work environment a better place. BG offers a pretty decent benefits package to full-time employees, including choices on healthcare, dental, life, retirement, etc. Full-time employees also get 17 days of PTO, which is above the norm. Work-life balance is also a plus. Despite managing a number of projects at once, I've very rarely needed to work late or over the weekend.

Blackstone is primarily focused on data collection for larger companies, so a lot of the work is fairly mundane. Survey work and basic data analysis. Blackstone really doesn't provide an environment for creativity. The Blackstone office is also really dated. It looks frighteningly like the office from "Office Space", with everyone in bland grey cubicles. Working at Blackstone you get a sense that the company is doing what it can to just skate by.

The interview process at Blackstone is also completely over the top. In the process of getting hired I must have spent 10 hours at their offices doing interviews and tests. For the most part your just talking to different senior people who ask the same questions over and over. The process is far too time consuming and asks far too much of candidates.

    Advice to Management

Blackstone needs to rethink its overall environment if it wants to continue to attract and retain talent. Remodel the office, give good employees the tools and support to be creative and inventive, and most importantly, update the interview process!

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Blackstone Group - in August 2014.

Two in-person interviews with different people including HR, two VPs, and two Project Managers.People seemed nice, however the office looked very old and dull!
The interview included 3 different tests including Powerpoint, Spelling test, categorizing...none were really related to the job.
After going in for two interviews, which each took 2-3 hours, they never got back to me or responded to any of my follow up emails!
