    "Direct primary care is still a relatively new concept in Nebraska, but it's one we're excited about," Schaefer said. "We've worked closely with physician partners to stand up one of the state's first direct primary care operations. We think that it will be a good solution for some patients and physicians."

We created a team - called the Diversity Business Council - to be responsible for BCBSNE’s commitment to diversity. Compromised of 25 employees with diverse backgrounds from different areas of the organization, the Council helps our company stay committed to four main areas of diversity and inclusion:

    Pros

    BlueCross Blue Shield of Nebraska's management team has created a winning culture! Employees are valued, respected and held accountable. Employees are passionate about their roles and doing the very best for our members. We embrace an environment that allows everyone to be themselves.

    We have over a thousand employees however, are "a big little family" where employees genuinely care about each other.

    Cons

    It is hard to know everyone on a first name basis although, we always acknowledge each other in passing.

    Advice to Management

    Continue to make employees feel valued. We appreciate it, remain committed to working hard and contributing to our success.

    I applied online. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (Omaha, NE) in November 2016.

    Phone screen with a recruiter, who reviewed my applicable work history, asked a couple behavioral questions, and explained the role very well. Very positive experience. Invited in to meet one-on-one with hiring manager, who conducted well-balanced interview and made me feel comfortable. Recruiter kept me posted on the process two days later and then called the next week with a job offer.
