  • As workwear becomes more open to interpretation, the idea of acceptable fashion in business covers a spectrum. Check out what these professionals tell Omaha Magazine about dressing for work http://glassdoor.com/slink.htm?key=vQ61e

    Fashion In Business Settings

The worst thing I saw someone wear in a professional setting was a mini skirt with a backless blouse and tattoos showing when accepting an award," says Gretchen Twohig, a lawyer at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska. Many executives would agree. Tales of skintight leggings, flip-flops, and ripped jeans appearing in a professional office abound.

  • What's direct primary care? It’s a hassle-free health benefits alternative that provides great care for a price that’s affordable for employees. Flat monthly rate. No insurance paperwork. Nebraska employees may have direct primary care option - BCBSNE Newsroom

"Direct primary care is still a relatively new concept in Nebraska, but it's one we're excited about," Schaefer said. "We've worked closely with physician partners to stand up one of the state's first direct primary care operations. We think that it will be a good solution for some patients and physicians."

I have been working at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska full-time

    Pros

Although I am fairly new to the company (five months in), I am overwhelmed by the warm welcomes I have received by each new business unit I am introduced to and the positive collaboration I have experience with each new project I start. The pleasant reception experienced evokes a kind of familiarity, security and comfort level that is usually only felt when one is with a company for several years. Feeling so at home, so soon after I have started, has been a delightful surprise.

In addition, the daily support and leadership of my immediate manager, and their managers above, allows for a work environment that encourages creativity, the freedom to learn along the way and the delivery of praise and accolades with professional accomplishments and wins.

I was already passionate about the health care industry so joining the BCBSNE family, a family that is fiercely devoted to the security and compassion of our members, has proven to be the perfect professional move for me.

    Cons

The work spaces are a little on the small side, and somewhat awkward, but that’s really not that big of a deal in the scheme of things!

    Advice to Management

Continue to keep the lines of communication open, at all time; continue to foster an environment of teamwork and collaboration and continue to be invested in the well-being of the employees.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska (Omaha, NE) in November 2016.

    Interview

Phone screen with a recruiter, who reviewed my applicable work history, asked a couple behavioral questions, and explained the role very well. Very positive experience. Invited in to meet one-on-one with hiring manager, who conducted well-balanced interview and made me feel comfortable. Recruiter kept me posted on the process two days later and then called the next week with a job offer.
