I have been working at Blue Star Software full-time

    Pros

Excellent benefits, very competitive salaries, responsive to requests and open to listening to ideas. Dan (president) is a phenomenal leader and will lead Blue Star to the top of the list for employers in both the VA and MD areas. The recruiting process was simple, easy, and best of all Alexa treats you like a person rather than a resume or a number.

    Cons

Majority of company is centered in VA, so working in Columbia, MD can feel distant at times (opening an office in 2018 so this con will be remedied soon).

    Advice to Management

Keep being open to ideas to improving the company and stay accessible to the workforce. The small, non-scalable, personal touches will keep this company growing well into the future.

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Blue Star Software.

    Interview

The interview process was a great experience. Dan and Alexa do a great job of making you feel very comfortable, like a friend. My interview was a combination of chats over coffee and chats on the phone about recent experience, favorite and disliked technologies and what I'm looking for next in my career. The interview process absolutely was a reason to work for this company compared to other experiences I had while interviewing.
