I have been working at Blue Valley Unified School District full-time

    Pros

They have a lot of resources and are one of the more well off districts in the state. They have a ton of professional development opportunities and really encourage teachers to take advantage. Kids are good despite a bit of entitlement. Overall a good district to work for

    Cons

They're a bit like a business. What District Office says is what goes even if you disagree. Teachers don't have a strong voice and are paid the least in the Johnson County area.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your teachers' input more often and more seriously. At a building level we do a good job, but at the district level it's awful

    Interview

An intensive several hour question process and it is either you answer the questions correctly based on the answer they expect or you are not brought back to interview with the principal.

    Interview Questions

    • If you could lead a group of students in a project, how would you approach it?
The students lead the project and you are a facilitator.
You come up with the main ideas and then let the students go from there.
You tell the students what they are to research and exactly how to go about it.   1 Answer
