BMF University
BMF places a high priority on helping our Associates achieve their personal and professional ambitions and one way we do that is through BMF University. BMFU is our comprehensive curriculum focused on honing your leadership, business development, management, communication and technical skills. Offering over 100 hours annually of in-house and off-site training opportunities, BMF is committed to developing you as a professional.     I have been working at Bober Markey Fedorovich and Company full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    BMF is an amazing place to work because of the following:
    1. Ownership - The partner group is dedicated not only to the success of firm clients, but also to the people who make up the firm.
    2. Strategy from the Ranks - When was the last time you got to work for a place that doesn't just talk about strategy, but actively works on it? Yup, BMF does that, and includes not just partners and senior managers, but also managers at the strategic-thinking level!
    3. Generous Benefits - Can you say PTO? Couldn't believe the standard PTO policies when I walked in the door. Thought they must have made a mistake!? Nope, that's just how they treat people... awesome.
    4. Work/Life Balance - BMF has flexible guidelines that put people-management from and center within the firm's organizational model.
    5. Technology-Centered - The firm puts its money where its mouth is when it comes to technology, working to stay as close to the bleeding edge as possible, without dropping off into the chasm of, "Wait, what did we just do?"
    6. Focus on the Team - There is a TON of effort and time put into making the firm a better place to work. Even though I think it's 5 out of 5 stars, I still see partners, HR, and other management leaders working to make it even better. You don't get better by sitting still... and there is always movement in this area, trying to improve.

    Cons

    At times I've noticed a tension between the embrace of technology and allowing people to work from the "office of anywhere." There is flexibility on that issue, but I could see some room for improvement there.

    Advice to Management

    Keep working to make things better. Keep listening to your staff. Keep reminding people of the things the firm provides that are easily taken for granted. Keep planning for the next generation of leaders to assume responsibility and participate in the direction of the firm.

    I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Bober Markey Fedorovich and Company (Akron, OH) in August 2017.

    Interview

    The interview was professional, light and enjoyable. I was taken into a very nice conference room by the receptionist and joined by one of the managers from the department. The HR director was supposed to join us but came in late as she was "in the middle of a long email trying to explain to someone that even if they aren't on the partner track, they are still a vital part of the firm." That was a bit of a red flag that I should have seen. TMI coming from the HR Director.
