Mission: Border States provides value to our customers by delivering innovative product and supply chain solutions.
We’re one of the largest 100 percent employee-owned companies in America. Each of our employee-owners has a real stake in our long-term success. Employee-ownership drives our commitment to delivering total satisfaction—each of us is empowered and expected to act decisively, exceeding our customers’ changing expectations at every turn and with every interaction.
And as employee-owners, we’re committed to the communities where we live and work. We’re involved in community cleanup projects, annual community development campaigns, and coaching and participating in community athletic teams. We’re also members and supporters of community groups, church groups, service groups, youth groups and educational institutions.
In addition, we regularly donate to qualified charitable organizations. Each branch receives funds for local community development campaigns and discretionary funds for other local requests like school activities and community service groups.
When two entrepreneurs founded Border States in the early 1950s, solid business relationships built on expertise, honesty and trust went a long way. Even though it’s been more than 60 years, today our more than 2,200 employee-owners look back on our founding mission and values, and realize that not much has changed: We provide value to our customers by delivering innovative product and supply chain solutions.
For our customers, it means delivering total satisfaction with our products, services and solutions. We believe that excellent service is not doing one thing well but doing everything well. Whether our customers visit us to pick up some simple hardware and fasteners or work with us to upgrade their entire electrical grid, we’re dedicated to adding value to their experience through innovative products and exceptional service.
For our employee-owners, it means being empowered to respond quickly with customer-focused solutions. We own 100 percent of our company—so all of us value the creativity and decisiveness that help us grow. It means being the right person for the career and knowing it.
For our manufacturer partners, it means sharing a commitment to provide excellent service and innovative solutions for our customers. We value strong, responsible business relationships with our vendor partners—we rely heavily on them for quality products and exceptional services because these are exactly what our customers expect from us.
For our industry, it means supporting common causes through financial contributions, advocacy and participation in events. We actively participate in a growing number of industry associations and value the shared know-how they bring to our business.
For our communities, it means practicing solid corporate citizenship. We look for ways to support and give back to the communities where we live and work, and focus on sustainability. Whether it’s through community service groups, church groups, youth leadership, food banks or shelters—we know our commitment to the community gives us a rock-solid foundation for an amazing company culture.
And doing the right thing means doing all of these things safely for the wellbeing of our customers, manufacturers and employee-owners. We’re committed to continuous improvement in creating a safe and healthy work environment for everyone.
Aligning with a strong business partner is critical to business success. Our solutions and services—rooted in deep expertise and industry diversity—make us a powerful supply chain partner for businesses across a broad, growing customer base.
We look forward to helping your company streamline its supply chain, reduce expenses, increase efficiency and deliver measurable, bottom-line results.

I applied through a recruiter. The process took a week. I interviewed at Border States Electric.
Initially over the phone interview then if it sounds like a great opportunity they invite for an in person interview and to meet supervisor. The the background check took about a week then I was able to start.
