    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Bostwick Laboratories (Glen Allen, VA).

    Interview

There was a telephone screening, and in-person interview a few days after the phone part. It wasn't too hard, and not too easy. All the questions were expected, and related to work. Some of them were specific to my educational background, and some of them from my work background, which wasn't in the laboratory business, and it seemed it wasn't a problem to them to hire me because of that.

    Interview Questions

    • Would I be willing to work different shifts, and/or weekends? (the ad didn't mention any of that, so I thought that was a bit odd… but wasn't a deal-breaker).   1 Answer

    Negotiation

I was told what was my position and my base pay, which they didn't want to raise for a while. Later, I had to prove them that the initial offer was too low, and I was actually doing much more, so I wanted to be paid more. It took a bit of hair-pulling, but it happened, and the raises were on a regular basis after that.
