Mid Full Stack Software Engineer Interview
Anonymous Employee in United StatesDeclined OfferNegative ExperienceAverage InterviewInterview
All interviews take place over phone or Google Meet:
1. Standard phone screen 30-minutes max
2. Codility automated screening. Frontend test is 4 hours and backend is 2. Got an 80% between the two. Average difficulty if you've worked with React and Django before.
3. 1-hour long 3-way high-level technical interview and automated test review (easy)
4. Culture fit interview with HR and CTO 30-minutes max
5. Offer
Total interview process took ~14 hours over ~8 weeks. They aimed to complete it in half that. But had to reschedule every single interview at least once. Last minute cancellations and no-shows were common. Also had to redo the 4-hour long frontend test after they never received it (thanks Codility).
Offer was instead "special" Associate-level equivalent position with a ~25k salary cut. Claiming that, as a new engineer to BrainGu I would need to "grow" into the position I originally applied to by working for them for some unspecified amount of time. Company assured me that this was no big deal, this wasn't unusual and that other people had taken the offer previously. Naturally I declined.
In summary, worst interview process to date. Avoid this company. Do not let them waste your time.InterviewWhat did you do when faced with conflict in the workplace?
