What we do today directly impacts how teachers teach, and students learn, tomorrow.
Our office receives loads of adorably illustrated fan mail addressed to Moby, our loveable robot mascot. We often hear kids talking about their favorite BrainPOP movie, and sometimes they even write songs about us. Okay, the song thing only happened once but it was cool.
Teachers stop by our booth at conferences just to tell us how BrainPOP has changed their lives as educators...and to meet Moby, of course. We continue to be inspired because we can see the difference we’re making.
Our family is made up of educators, artists, foodies, data scientists, film buffs, published authors, cyclists, dual-citizens, programmers, and so much more. We are committed to diversity and inclusion, and welcome people of all backgrounds to our family. We value collaboration and love learning from multiple perspectives.
We are proud to be a creative, collaborative, always-learning and always-teaching community.
Our commitment to supporting and empowering teachers and students is reflected in our dedication to enhancing the lives of our employees—in and out of the office.
Besides offering a comprehensive benefits package and putting an emphasis on work-life balance, we make it a point to have a lot of fun and do a lot to mix up the workday. Every Wednesday, the company gets together for a catered community lunch; we also love going on company outings that include theater, sporting events, and an always-memorable holiday party.
We’ve also kicked off a wellness initiative recently including various challenges and monthly cooking demos and fitness classes.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package to all BrainPOPpers. It is constantly evolving, but a few current offerings are:
I have been working at BrainPOP full-time (More than 5 years)
The best reason to work here is the people. It is a relaxed and friendly environment that I have yet to find anywhere else and you couldn't ask for better colleagues. Also, the company has been focusing a lot on culture and wellness lately (30-day water challenge, after work wellness workshops such as yoga and self defense, cooking demonstrations) which I think is the one thing it was lacking previously. I'm excited to see what they come up with next!
In some departments there is no opportunity for growth or promotions which can be discouraging and is the biggest downside, career trajectory and path are not clear at all (you often have to create a role in order to progress), no official onboarding process so the first few weeks can be a little hectic (though they are working on developing this), low starting salary that does not align with the industry standard
Advice to Management
Instead of continuously hiring new employees, look to promote from within for non-entry-level roles
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at BrainPOP (New York, NY) in October 2016.
A great interview process, everyone was friendly and on time. Honesty, I probably would have excepted but they weren't prepared to offer me a salary anywhere aligned to my experience. I really wish they would have brought up the compensation before I was offered the position.
