    1. Transport Planning Manager Interview

      Difficult Interview

I applied online. I interviewed at Brakes Group (Park Royal)

      Interview

I have recently been given my eviction notice and in desperate need for work, and did attend 2 interviews at brakes. From the second interview, I had really bad vibes and felt that there is a toxic and a somewhat dishevelled culture. On my first Team's interview, I found out that for around 50% of the interview, that I wasn't even being spoken to regarding the appropriate job and they also struggled to send out the correct Team's link. However once I had finally completed the first interview, I was optimistic about the 2nd and apart from some errors, I was sold on what would be expected of me and how I could fit into their team. So the second interview was due on their Park Royal site, of which I had travelled to with more or less my last £25 and felt confident for the first part, however this senior manager just put the pressure on from the start and often cut me off whilst I was talking, he had to disagree with everything I said and I slowly but surely completely lost my confidence and had a weak interview in the end. Now I get pressure tactics, its not something I've used often whilst I've been a manager, but I understand the concept and have seen a lot of manager's use this limited way of approach, however I believe there is a fine line between being toxic and a high pressure environment, and I unfortunately felt that this was the latter. He seemed to had judged me by my laid back persona, but not my skillset or potential and wanted to work against me all interview, so yes I did fold off the back off his 'pressure' and of course the pressure off an eviction notice. At one point I asked him about a previous bit of information regarding the company's software and he said in a very uncaring manner that he 'doesn't know as it was installed before his time', of which I found very unprofessional and unhelpful. Now I have huge confidence in my ability and what the company was asking me to do and it would've even been on a smaller scale than before, I also have huge experience with screaming customers, faulty software/hardware and an all number of tight deadlines, as I have even worked on funerals before, however a toxic boss/work environment is something I do struggle to work with. Finally I sent a follow up email to Brakes group, reiterating that I felt I didn't have the strongest 2nd interview, explained about the eviction notice and even laid out my intentions if I was to become successful in the role, but even though I was told I would be given feedback immediately or at least with in a couple of days, I haven't received anything in way of response at almost a week later. Avoid!
