I have been working at BrightSign full-time (More than 3 years)
-supportive, hands-on management group and excellent CEO
-career advancement opportunities - work hard in your current position and talk with your manager to express career goals and advancement within the company is definitely possible
-profitable company with quarterly CASH bonuses (no equity, which is a breath of fresh air for Silicon Valley!)
-just the right amount of bureaucracy - a fast-paced, growing company, but employees concerns are always addressed promptly by management (ANY employee can go directly into the CEO’s office and know there won’t be repercussions, all the way from the ground-up)
-work/life balance is definitely respected here, especially as compared to most companies in Silicon Valley.
-interesting projects where the entire team delves in to create results
-very cool product and fun people to work with
Nothing....it seriously does not get better than BrightSign in the Bay Area! Work will always be work, but it has been much more enjoyable to work at BrightSign than any other company I’ve worked for.
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you’re doing! I like the new quarterly all-hands update meetings to keep us all informed. Ignore the few negative reviews - clearly disgruntled former employees with one-sided stories or comments that need more context to really be valid. There are reasons why BrightSign’s retention rate is so high - just re-read all the PROs I’ve spelled out in my review.
